Carbonara, meals and crafts.

I have been meaning to make Carbonara for dinner for some time now. I finally remembered to buy the bacon for it too. So yesterday for dinner I made it. I chopped half a sweet onion and the bacon and fried it until it was nice and crispy, then drained. I made the fettuccine and the rest of the carbonara sauce. I even managed to remember that I have Italian Parsley outside in my garden and so snipped some fresh. I was really pleased with the end result. It was very yummy and even the children liked it. We had that with a nice green salad.

It has been kind of hit or miss for dinner at my house lately. Some days I cook wonderful meals from scratch, other days just seem to be heat and eat. The children also discovered burritos. All previous attempts to get them to try them had fallen very short. This time however they seem to like them. When offered the choice of burritos or sandwiches for lunch they both chimed “burritos!!” I would say they are a hit.

The children and I have been doing a few crafty projects. We recently did some fabric paint projects. Alaric now has a neat sea turtle t-shirt, Treanna has a pink horse hat, and our black aprons now have cute little teapots on them. I have also been reading up on watercolor painting as it is something I have always wanted to try.
